3-component light module for automobile door sills
Starting point
Development of an illuminated door sill with limited installation space and a reduction of 16 individual parts to be assembled to this one plastic part.
Challenge
Limited installation space - Combining the 16 different parts in one and thus saving 5 work steps - Implementation in the 12V low voltage range - 5/100 air gap between the connected components as the transmission medium of the light line
Solution
3-K process technology in injection molding with the three different components made of PMMA, PMMA impact-resistant and diffuse PMMA using shifting technology - light guidance through a gradient geometry with over 1,800 differently designed light islands - functional locking latch for the light supply - fixing of the 3 components using a special tool technology
Advantage
Since it saves considerably on costs compared to previous versions, we won competition against the Far East
