In the past there were printed buttons that lost the symbols when they were rubbed - seals and steel springs were required separately
Challenge
Implementation in the 3-component process in order to save costs for springs and to protect the symbols against scrubbing
Solution
3-K process technology in injection molding with the three different components made of PMMA for the light guide function, ABS white and ABS colored for the symbols - in combination with the keyboard housing, it also functions as a splash water seal using a labyrinth seal geometry
Advantage
Since it saves a lot of money compared to previous designs, it won competition against the Far East - finished part from the machine in combination with the housing to cover various functions
